Yes there are many innocent things about Halloween. And yes for people today it's not really about murder and such. Nobody (well most people) don't go out killing anyone or harming people. It is done in a spirit that mocks and makes light of death. Similar to the Day of the Dead in many Latin American countries (which is appearantly closely related to Halloween).

I agree, it is about escaping reality and being entertained by things that aren't a part of everyday life.

But to me personally, it seems odd that such innocent things would be placed along side such morbid things, like death and horror. So yes, I don't celebrate it. To me, it seems inspired by the devil.

To God, a little irreverence is too much to ask. (But he has forgiven many for it ;) )

Halloween is one of my favorite holidays. Carving pumpkins and handing out candy and dressing up are all a lot of fun. It's not at all about murder and death and destruction. It's about stepping out of your dull, normal life for a day or two.

Are Christians able to have any fun or does it all have to be about telling other people they're wrong and evil? Is a little irreverence too much to ask?
